Actions on August Sixth

The simultaneous advance of the German armies led to two major battles occurring on August 6th 1870. One battle was in the south, between the German Third Army, fresh off of their victory at Wissembourg, and Marshall MacMahon’s forces. Another was in the north, between the German Second Army against elements of Bazaine’s forces. Both battles resulted in a German victory that pushed the two French armies further away from eachother.
